Guaraná is a climbing plant native to the Amazon rainforest, known for its small red fruits that contain seeds rich in caffeine. It is special to Brasil because it has natural caffeine and is used in drinks, medicine, and energy boosters.
The glossy-leaved vine, packed with more caffeine than any other plant, has been a staple for the Sateré-Maué people of the Lower Amazon region, integrated deeply into their dietary regimes, culture, and the local economy.
It grows mostly in the states of Amazonas and Bahia, where it is an important part of life and culture.
