Mangueira is one of Brasil's most traditional samba schools, founded in 1928 in Morro da Mangueira, Rio de Janeiro.
In the painting, the mango represents the name and origin of the school, and behind it, the surdo drum symbolises samba. Traditionally linked to Afro-Brazilian roots, the school is a symbol of resistance and popular culture.
