The painting brings together elements of Brazilian Carnival and national identity, forming the Brazilian flag as a symbol of resistance and cultural appreciation.

Inspired by Império Serrano's samba theme ‘Heróis da Liberdade’ (Heroes of Freedom) (1969), the work refers to abolitionist movements and the call for an end to tyranny, affirming Carnival as an act of resistance and belonging for all.
